Do you PING??

Is page rank (PR) important to you? Is search engine optimization (SEO) a goal of yours?

Then you need to let the major blog services and search engines know that your blog has been updated. You should be pinging a large number of these services each time you post something new on each of your blogs, and also each time you reply to a comment.

There are quite a few pinging services, but these are the ones that I have found most reliable and easy to use:

King Ping

and

Ping-O-Matic

Maybe you have some other pinging services you would like to recommend?

No. I can't be bothered to figure that stuff out. I have enough people drop by. Somehow, enough people come along to offset the ones who leave blogging. I hardly ever look for new blogs to read, but I think I did find yours through a link on somebody's blog. I very seldom blog surf, however.

It really depends on the blogger's purpose in blogging, I guess, anvilcloud.

Even though Yesterday's Memories is a personal journal, both Plush Memories and Yesterday's Memories are linked to online sales sites of ours, so gaining readership is important as a marketing tool. Therefore for our purposes, PR and SEO are important. I ping this blog to keep the name of BLOG VILLAGE current on the search engines, in order to advertise the TopList. And I ping the Peripheral Neuropathy blog, because I'm hoping to find more people in similar circumstances to blog with.

In your case, it obviously doesn't matter to you, and that's just fine.

Thanks for adding another pinging service, Nancy. I just took a look at your blog and invited you to join BLOG VILLAGE. I sure hope you take me up on the invitation.

Don't know if anyone's heard about this one, but thought I'd put it out here. It's a pinging service:

You're supposed to put their text link on your page, but it's tiny.

Cheers!

Hey, not a bad idea, Sylvia. That way you don't have to remember to ping. It's just done automatically when the blog changes. Thanks for the link.

I personally do because, i would be rather dissapointed if i wrote a post and no one read it. But that is just me, other bloggers may just be happy to leave the post and let people just find it.

I'm like you, ashley. I don't think I would enjoy blogging if I thought no one was reading what I had to say. The fun for me is carrying on a conversation with the people who comment. I took a look at your blog, and I love all the optical illusions! Would you be interested in joining BLOG VILLAGE? I'd love to have you as a member.

Pingoat's one of my favorites, from above, and I also like IPings.
