Would You Help Me?

I sent another of my "you better click in" letters with a reminder that members need a BV banner or text link on their blog. I do not have time to keep up with banners on blogs, new members (who sicced lawyers on me?) and bugging admin to do his job. If ANYONE would like to help, it would be wonderful.

I just found out I have to have six more months of treatment. The chemotherapy makes me ill and increases my depression. This is my third 6-month treatment since 2009 and I am tired of being sick, weary of giving blood, becoming phobic of getting shots in my legs, troubled by MRIs, CATs, EGDs and whatever initials they choose to torture me with this time.

If anyone could help, it would really appreciate it. Just use the link below:

Gateway back up

Now the error is when you try to click out to visit a blog.  I left a message in the forum. I do not know what else to do. The admin does not answer emails and the support site has a bad database. Everywhere I look:  ERROR

Problems with BV TopList

I am removing the gateway page until admin fixes the error that shows when you click in.  I am hoping this will give some members clicks in.

I noticed many members who have been around for a long time  do not have any clicks in. I went to several and clicked in from their blog, but did not see the clicks on the stats page..

I think the TopList has been sold again and things appear to have gotten worse. If this trend continues, we may want to move the list elsewhere.

Namaste,

CyberCelt

Update 8:55 pm: the error is there without the gateway page, so I am putting gateway page back up with explanation to reload page when they get error message. This is really a pain.

To keep it light, I wanted to share these doggy pictures with you. I am not sure of the origin, but they wound up on FaceBook and I had to grab them.

Habiba and Babe Reunited : All is Well, For Now

On the website that broke the original strory of Habiba and her infant, the following notice is posted.

Gracias todos los que con nuestra firma habéis apoyado esta acción. La fundación Raíces nos ha comunicado que por fin Habiba y su bebé están juntas,

12751 signatures gathered
12249 signatures confirmed - Women Power

Thank you all who have supported our firm this action. Estate Foundation has informed us that finally Habiba and her baby are together.

============================================

This particular incident really opened my eyes.  Women are losing fundamental liberties that our grandmothers lobbied for and that we have enjoyed since the 1920s.. It was only in the last century that women were granted the right to vote.  Or own and sell property. Or even determine their destiny.

We must stop any attack on personal rights like Habiba and her babe.The numbers of signatures shows that one person CAN make a difference in this world. With the help of 12,000 friends!

Help reunite Habiba with her baby

In Spain, a mother has lost her child because she was breastfeeding her at a woman's shelter. The child is 15 months old and evidently the government agency doesn't like this. Below is the story of Habiba, translated from Spanish.

Habiba is a young nursing mother of a 15 months old girl. She is from Morocco and has an adverse socio-economic circumstance. Four months ago she accepted to live, along with her daughter, in a residence for young mothers in Madrid, with the hope that it will make things easier.

On May 30th, the Minor and Family Institute of Madrid (IMMF - Instituto Madrileño del Menor y la Familia) decided to separate the child from her mother for not accomplishing the goals of a program of psychotherapy and ‘maternal skills’ that involves abandoning extended and on demand breastfeeding, as they consider it to be ‘chaotic and prejudicial for boys and girls’. By this considerations, that lacks scientific and legal basis, mothers are forced to take a medication to dry up their milk.

According to the Spanish Association of Pediatrics, breastfeeding should be on demand and can last for as long as mom and child desire it. No legal procedure has been followed to separate this mother from her daughter, she not allowed to say goodbye to the child and she was not told where they were taking the child, provoking severe helplessness. Habiba has her breasts swollen with milk, at the verge of mastitis and with a broken heart, anguished for not being able to be with her baby. This mother has been evaluated by a psychologist and a psychiatrist and she doesn’t present any sign of mental illness or drug use or anything that justifies being the victim of such aggression.

Habiba was thrown to the streets in the same moment that her daughter was taken, she was told there was no more a place for her as the residence was for mothers and she did not have a daughter anymore. A humanitarian aid foundation has given her protection, shelter, sustenance and legal aid.

We are deeply concerned by the pain of Habiba and it hurts to imagine in what circumstances the 15 months old girl is, separated from her mom, forced to be weaned, probably without having being explained a thing.

We consider the case of Habiba to be a severe violation to Human Rights and Children’s Rights. The damage is already done, but if mother and daughter can reunite, it can be healed. For all of this, we ask you that you sign the petition to ask IMMF the immediate release of the child, to her mother and/or to send letters to the authorities that can make it happen.

Please sign the petition below.  The petition is in Spanish. Please note the translation below.

Memorial Day : Time for Visiting Our War Dead

Arlington National Cemetery

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who died in service to our country. Congress declared Memorial Day a national holiday in 1971, to be celebrated on the last Monday of May.

Originally know as Decoration Day, it is believed that Memorial day started in the United States after the Civil War to remember fallen Union soldiers. This might be true, because eight southern states hold a separate memorial day for fallen Confederate soldiers.

About 5,000 people attend the Memorial Day ceremony at the Arlington National Cemetery each year. A small American flag is placed on each grave and the President lays a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

FREE Plush Memories Lost Toy Search to Help TORNADO CHILDREN

Our FREE Plush Memories Lost Toy Search Service wants to help with the search for toys lost during the monster tornado outbreak in the South on April 27, 2011!!

We're reaching out to people on all the forums, social networks, and toplists we belong to. I was the originator of Blog Village, so I'm hoping many of you will help spread the word about our efforts.

We've lived in Alabama our whole lives, and our hearts ache for all those in our state who were not as fortunate as we were. Two tornadoes were headed our way, but they lifted off the ground before they reached our little town. We praise God for his Mercy toward us. Wednesday's tornado outbreak was the worst in the United States since 1925, and Alabama was the hardest hit.

Alabamians are helping each other during this time of great need, as whole cities and towns have been demolished. Collection points are all over the place for people to bring bottled water, food, charcoal and grills, toiletries, diapers, formula, and other basic necessities.

Since we're Baptist, here's the link to donate through the Baptist State Mission Board. The Salvation Army . The Red Cross and United Way would be good places to take local donations of goods or send money, as there will be a need for LOTS of money.

The time to help with clothing, furniture, and toys has not come yet, but it will soon, when life-saving needs are met. When that time comes, these surviving families are going to want to replace the special lovies that will help their little ones feel secure again.

This is where we can help, if people just find out about us. We’ve been helping people find dolls and stuffed animals for almost 6 years now, and we have over 150 Fabulous Finders who help with the search for lovies, so PLEASE PASS THE WORD ALONG TO ANYONE WHO HAS FAMILY OR FRIENDS IN AN AREA STRUCK BY WEDNESDAY'S TORNADOES - WE WILL MAKE YOUR SEARCH A TOP PRIORITY!!!

Please tell people about us on your Facebook page, Twitter page, Forums, and other Social Networks you may belong to. Tell your friends and family, too.

Thanks so much all any help you can give in spreading the word about us, so relatives of tornado victims will have a way of finding that special lovie for their little ones who have survived this disaster!

When the power is restored and the South has healed enough for parents to start thinking about such things, we want them to know that we are here to help them replace those special lovies.

If we can help someone find a lost lovie, please CONTACT US.

Continuing Problem with Top List

I cannot get the TopList Admin to remove his ads from our list. I paid last year to have this done. My subscription (PayPal) ended 4/7 and his ads were all over the TopList before the end of the day. I renewed my subscription, but he does not acknowledge anyone in the forums or submitting support tickets.

Now, I have an Amazon banner here and there, but he has covered our Gateway and our list with Google ads. I am going to go after him through Google and Paypal. Wish me luck.

Valentine's Day Gifts

What to give to someone you love on Valentine's Day? Well, flowers and chocolates come to mind. Plants, jewelry, gift certificates, spa visits . . .

What if you do not have any money? When I was going to school, I had zero money to spend on necessities, not to mention gifts. What did I do?

I baked a heart shaped cake that said I Love You and I made coupons that entitled the bearer to services. Services like:
  • manicure;
  • breakfast in bed;
  • event I would attend no matter what, whether it be truck pulls, rodeos, basketball game;
  • get out of trouble free card for when the other person had been an ass but knew it;
  • back massage;
  • foot massage;
  • bubble bath with champagne;
  • whatever you wish.
You get the idea, but do not give a coupon for something that you are not willing to do. You can get real creative by using colored paper, paper lace and ribbons to make a very pretty card in which to place the coupons. These coupons were a real hit and they did not cost a cent. Give of yourself this Valentine's Day.

A Homeless Man's Funeral

As a bagpiper, I play many gigs. Recently I was asked by a funeral director to play at a graveside service for a homeless man. He had no family or friends, so the service was to be at a pauper's cemetery in the Kentucky back country.

As I was not familiar with the backwoods, I got lost and, being a typical man, I didn't stop for directions.

I finally arrived an hour late and saw the funeral director had evidently gone and the hearse was nowhere in sight. There were only the diggers and crew left and they were eating lunch.

I felt badly and apologized to the men for being late. I went to the side of the grave and looked down and the vault lid was already in place. I didn't know what else to do, so I started to play.

The workers put down their lunches and began to gather around. I played my heart and soul out for this man with no family and friends. I played like I've never played before for this homeless man.

And as I played 'Amazing Grace,' the workers began to weep. They wept, I wept, we all wept together. When I finished I packed up my bagpipes and started for my car. Though my head hung low, my heart was full.

As I opened the door to my car, I heard one of the workers say, "I never seen nothin' like that before and I've been putting in septic tanks for twenty years."

Apparently I'm still lost.... it's a man thing.
